Greetings. I believe there's a desperate need for this overlooked element of hip hop to be reestablished. I don't know about you but mixtapes were the vehicles that introduced me to hip hop and all its levels. I gained all my high standards and expectations, musical cataloge and good taste from the lessons that mixtapes have taught me. The radio doesn't always come through, you all know the drill. Mixtapes are the new radio and with that comes all the junk. The problem is finding a good mixtape is like finding a needle in a haystack for lack of a better analogy. Actually nowadays i'd rather call it a shitstack. Which is what the online commercial mixtape movement has left us with. don't get me wrong, i'm a huge Dj Smallz fan, but all that is in your face. My job is to show you what isn't in your face. I'm sure i'll be able to hit whatever style mark you prefer. I promise that these picks will be nothin but MONEY.

What's worse than a hip hop hater? A New Hip hop hater. Those cats that wont listen to anything besides 93 til infinty and Illmatic and dont believe that hip hop existed after that, you know you can't swing a cat without hittin a narrowminded snob these days.
To address that i'll post this here. Recently rediscovered by me, is this umma inspired compilation, and a bit of a dilla tribute by DJ Pump, how can you go wrong? It's called The Official Jeepney Sound Vol. 6. A nice cross between the old and new just to remind you of the good ol days and how hip hop is alive and kickin.
