The Producer Interview Series // J Beatz

For those that missed them the first time round ...

Monday - Part 1 - Teeza
Tuesday - Part 2 - Mr. Mitch

And today's interview and FREE download is courtesy of J Beatz.

If you weren't overly familiar with his production before now then I hope you will be after reading the following interview and checking out the links below.

1. First off please introduce yourself and give us a brief background to your work.

I’m J Beatz, I am a 18 year old grime producer/DJ hailing from Enfield.

I have worked with Frisco, Devlin, Bloodline, Badness etc and I have a whole heap of stuff coming out this year so keep your eyes peeled.

2. When did you first get into producing music and how did it come about?

My brother had Fruity Loops 3 and he used to produce Hip Hop and I used to watch him and one day I got sent home from school and I was bored so I had a go at it and I haven’t stopped since and I was year 9 them times so it’s been a while now!

3. What would be your one piece of advice for up and coming producers?

Try and develop a style for your beats so you can stand out outside everyone else and whatever a MC says to you always take it with a pinch of salt as they are known to gas producers up.

4. What has been you most favourite moment in grime so far?

My favourite moment was DJ’ing with Bloodline at Oldham, Manchester. It was a very sick show and the fans were looking so forward to seeing us and it was also the first time I’ve done a booking with MC’s so it is definitely a moment I will never forget.

5. What can we expect from you over the coming months / year?

I’ve got the Android EP coming out on Subdepth Hollow Records in 2 weeks and I’ve got EP’s out on other labels later in the year.

I am also working on a special collaboration CD which will be very exciting, grime fans will love it!
