Things always change, and so does
SPACE, so…Changing Spaces…Specifically, galleries.
Lets get the ball rolling. Here are
some construction photos of the Wilkinson gallery when it was being
built in 2007.
The gallery started out in the
director’s living room, so things have definitely changed with
regards to this space, unless his house had 20foot black matte doors
and a hatch in the roof to move large works around the building!?

Just blowing up the Serpentine. This
invite came with a scratch and sniff card, we tried it out, and ten
years later it still smelt like freshly cut grass. Some things don’t
change.

Very early East London gallery, Richmond
Road in the 90s is not the lovely row of terraced houses overlooking
London fields that it is now. Then they moved to Kingsland Rd.

2002: Launch of Haunch of
Venison

This gallery began in Haunch of Venison
Yard in 2002, it was sold to Christie’s in 2007, and now is
situated behind the Royal Academy, a
huge space for a commercial gallery.

Atlantis @ Brick Lane
|
The only space we knew of previously was the Whitechapel site; have not been in the art game long enough. Turns out at it was housed in the Old Truman Brewery. So you go buy 10 more things than you intended, chill on the bridge relieving that bank balance stress with that promised cup of free coffee. Spiritual home? Atlantis is back at Brick Lane albeit round the back.

| Pump House Gallery |
Going along with the theme, we've
chosen this week’s ‘opening of the week’ because it is an
amazing space. So on Tuesday from 6 until 8.30pm the Pump
House Gallery is having an exhibition opening for
Social States, artists, Baptist Coelho and Nadia Kaabi-Linke. Its
set in 200-acre parkland and sits on a lake. Some political art and
these settings, you can’t go amiss.

Anthony Wilkinson has collected private view cards since the mid 90s.
